Bite Me

Well, that was the most useless half hour of my
life – “The Apprentice” (the American version) was just on, and it was terrible.
Donald Trump (who’s mind lives in the 80s) has surrounded himself with
talking-heads who have one ambition – to kiss his ass thoroughly. Tonight’s
episode was
Advertising
(something close to my worker’s heart) but the premise of the show and the
ridiculous conflict / setups between the characters isn’t were I should lay
blame – it really is Trump’s fault. Ambitious people who are told they have a
chance in life… a Camp-America director once warned me; “American kids are
different, see? They are told – get this – that they
could
be President”. Well, if you’re born Bush… so these poor ‘contestants’ are
boardroom failures, if they are at the top of their profession – as they seem to
proclaim every four minutes – why are they on a TV Show?
This guy Trump – what a loony, and he
re-dubbs his boardroom speeches. Terribly. There are many ways you could re-work
“The Apprentice” but it is a wider problem than just this program- which is
hybrid American OTT / MTV Testosterone-tastic don’t-for-your-mothers-sake-stop
bullshit. TV is really poor – and its because of Talking-Heads, not David Byrne, the
kind Trump loves- people with a thesaurus and “another take on things” the folks
who have a Plan A, B and C – the kind of people who sit on awfully designed
sofas drinking putrid piss-wine out of ridiculous sphere-shaped glasses, usually
people will say these things happen because it’s fashionable. I don’t buy that.
People let stupidity endure because they don’t know what they want. I’m not
talking about life in general, because this is far too simplistic a theory to
spread further than the borders of petty advertising-speculation. People who
think different will inherit the earth, bah- that’s so obvious, right? I mean an
Apple ad
campaign
urged you to think
different
– and you failed. Yes, you personally! So bite
me.

Photos Like This / Free Health Care

I
know which I’d go with… being a British Citizen, not having a
mental
as President, I see the beauty in wasting Billions on exploring infinity and the
beauty in this photograph taken by “Mars Express”. Its dust – falling into a
400m deep crater… well, it was photos like this
or Little Jimmy’s athsma treatment.
There’s a whole high-res gallery over
on the European Space Agency’s website, Its not very user friendly -
but really worth your tax-payer’s Dollar / Euro. Anyway, on Space Exploration in
general it is really tough to justify mindless space travel when 11 Million
Children die every year from Treatable diseases. When we can’t find Osama Bin
Laden, but hey – Ice on
Mars
. It was Quincy that brought this up last night, during a quip
with my parents, My Mother: “are
things really cheap over there [in the USA],
Quincy?”Quincy: “Oh yeah, they’ve spent all
their money on ridiculous wars and sending robots to the Moon. Free Health Care?
Bah.”Well, makes me sick – although
the
real
reason NASA got the shuttle launch up and going as soon as possible was due to
maintenance/upgrades on top-secret surveillance equipment, the shuttle and NASA
are a devision of the Defense service after-all. But who knows what Mars is
about, lets have a look in those Oceans of ours, before we go flying off into
uninhabitable deep-space. Photos are
good

I Had The Vision- The Television!

…Bono has come to see me. I admire
him. He is a man of depth and a great heart who cares deeply about the
impoverished folks on the continent of Africa, and I admire his leadership on
the issue [regarding Make Poverty History]. And so I do believe – I don’t view
- I can’t remember how you characterized the rock stars, but I don’t
characterize them that way, having met the
man.

-
George Bush. From the Hope To Eliminate
African Debt
press conference -
Transcript
I can’t believe no-one edits, or
deletes these transcripts. It would seem the White House press corps are tuned
to Bush-isms these days, they probably don’t get the joke. George Bush admiring
Bono is a frightening thing – I believe in Bono’s moral struggle as much as the next man…
president… Apple CEO – but surely Bono told Bush aid wasn’t enough, explained
aid was in fact detrimental.The
vicious circle of disaster-aid-dictatorship-povery-aid-disaster can only be
tackled through the removal of one of the spokes, the dictators can be removed -
pressure isn’t enough – aid
dependancy
can be reduced through organisational skills of both goverment and NGO’s,
poverty is a bi-poduct of these dictatorships and a lack of jobs which is caused
by trade restrictions (I imagine). Africa has a lot to offer in natural
resources and tourism too, mega-cities can be raised new powers can rise.
America is frightened? I think so, stop feeding the-brimming aid – useless
charity and we’ll get no-where. I know, its all understood now, I only bring it
up because it was made so obvious that Bush is
so
unaware.Doesn’t he understand he can
shape these nations in his own Globalization-lite image, economic systems based
on the American model (please! Read /
watch this interview
) can be run from nothing, he will pove to Europe
the system is sound and viable – the world will soon follow. Only Asia can stop
him – unless the African nations revolt, succeed from Globalization or go tits
up like Russia or South Africa today – creating a now mixed-elite unparalleled
by any class system. It’ll be that or a military movement, like the Animatrix
(1+2), I’m sure that had its story set in the
Africa.Maybe not, Bush has lost his
chance to lead Africa, Tony Blair has a lot of respect – and if he pulls off the
G8 conference, dropping the debt of the poorest countries – followed by a
support package incorporating all 8 nations, I don’t see why we he can’t lead
the way. Nevermind – who will lead from within Africa? That I haven’t got a clue
about.

Vote; Lib-Dem?

published on April 20, 2005 » filed under Politic

The Liberal Democrats are the
third
party.
A party who have failed consecutively to gain capital on the failure and
mistrust of the big two – Labour and the Conservatives. My problem with the
Lib-Dems, in one name- Charles Kennedy. I trust him, and will listen to him even
agree with some of his policies and applaud his constant stance on Tony Blair,
War and Devolution.However, he’s a
weak leader – a dull speaker. This is the
time for the Lib-Dems, they have a good track
record in Scotland, a left-ist
position (I agree with) on immigration and, yes, compared to Blair and Howard -
Charles Kennedy is a popular leader, I read “75%” of the electorate
trust that drunk – this does not mean 75% will vote Liberal Democrat. If this is the time -
Kennedy should say so, their tag is the “Real Alternative”, but he’s talking
himself to death – he’s got the wrong idea; talking about health and crime at
every opportunity… why so? Because they have a simple and succinct answers, a
tried-and-true policy on these issues, Kennedy is a milker… They can’t
recognise that Scotland has it’s own agenda, and however beneficial their
policies will be, people are not listening – nothing to do with presentation,
nor content it’s the voice, the tweedy new-father doesn’t go down
well.That’s it basically, sad – but a
party to lead the UK for the next 5 years can not be this one. They’re not ready
for it.

Election Time

published on April 13, 2005 » filed under Politic

You’ve heard it before – we’re all
so
very clever that we’ve started missing the point. I’ve been enjoying the election
campaign
for the last few days, taking a break from CNNi and Hala.
I’ve noticed a sad and telling manifestation of Externiality
In 90% of the vox-pops;
the quote is “oh, I don’t trust any of them”. The ‘voice of the people’ (or if
your Michael Howard – Peeeeeple) is so clever, so in-touch and informed that at
the question “are you interested in the policies of x” or “will you vote”, “do
you believe…”, “who do you trust…” they just smile – throw their hands up
and giggle “I don’t care” – “I’m tired with all of
them”.Well, I’m tired with it too -
“sick fed up” as my mother would put it, but I’ve got space and time to do a
little better than the totalistic “ITV said Tony Blair’s a liar… and Michael
Howard is Welsh… and there are too many choices… I’ll just sit under the
table like Mr. Wilson told me to” types. Saying these groups are the
disenfranchised or disillusioned
is so pretentious (that’s my new year’s resolution blown). British people are
just lazy, we wave a flag, watch the Queen, love war films and hate anyone who
wants to be a part of this great county… but vote? “No, I’ve done that
already”, “what for?” – someone said that to my face once, I got so angry (for
good
reasons).Anyway,
this is a bit of a warning, in the next few weeks Kalamazootopia will become a
musing-ground for my political stance and I’ll be yelling about what x just
said… etc. In my inaugural rant I said I wouldn’t, but it’s about time I
dropped the silence and defined myself (in a political
sense).
