I’ve made Starred Review (a plugin now unsupported by its author) play with Wordpress 2.2+ [Download Starred Review 1a]. It still needs a little tinkering, but I really love this little plugin, this weekend I should get round to clearing up. If you’re interested drop me a line. There was a little interest last year when I released a ‘patched’ version, and although there are other plugins out there that do the same thing- but since I’ve got my database setup for Marc’s “Starred Review” it seems to make sense to carry it forward. Any requests?
Short Term Goals:
- Support for Wordpress 2.1+
- Images (Album Artwork)
- RSS
- Built in Amazon / iTS [automation of linking]
Long Term:
- Multiple Pages / Search
- Widget for OS X [add reviews from Dashboard / iPhone]
- A word or two [space for a mini 'review' rather than just stars]
- CSS control from the options panel
For now, I’m sorry I lost the original patched version- the file doesn’t exist on my hard disk, and I don’t have .Mac anymore… that was where the file was hosted. I do have the Archive.org version of the original how-to / files.
Update: You can now Download Starred Review 1a. It sort of works too.

Will it work with previous ratings plug-ins? I ask because I was using Star Rating for Reviews and that stopped displaying properly with WP 3.2 and so far the authors have not been at all responsive. I saw your comment there!
Anyway, I have a bunch of things rated, and wonder whether your plug-in will pick up those ratings. If so, I’ll switch.
Thanks
Jeremy
Jeremy, welcome back. I have a feeling that Star Rating for Reviews is “Starred Review” with some add-ons, although the author doesn’t mention this- the CSS is very similar. I’ve not looked further into the code tho.
Will it work? Maybe - but not out of the box. Can you give it a shot for me? It certainly won’t break anything (I hope!).
There is a chance I can do a quick hack for renaming your database columns- so that they fit in with Starred Ratings… but I’ll need to look into it.
Starred Review, as it stands today: v.1a is only confirmed by me (its only user so far!) to work on Wordpress 2.2.1. I may upgrade tonight- but its early days.
Sorry, I missed your reply. You should bung in that Subscribe to comments plug-in!
I’ll be happy to give your plu-in a try, but not until this evening.
If you can rename the database, it will be wonderful.
