New Job, New City
well tomorrow i start my 9-5 life, validating the selection i have made for years in drop-down boxes for all manner of sign-up forms. tomorrow my occupation really will be “print & design”. that’s enough about work i still have my weekends free, and what a town to be free in.
Edinburgh is one of those pretty cities people come from miles around to walk around and be touristy in. i invite you to do the same and know i have a flat(share) you’ll have to come stay with us. the flat is pretty cool, and located not 10 minutes walk from Prince’s Street. we have a record player and some bobby dylan along with many, many more classics. everything’s fairly spacious and really quite affordable compared to the horror stories i’d heard about living in our capital. i have a view of the castle, arthur’s seat and carlton hill… also a pretty good overview of a grey parking lot and some of the nicest re-developments Leith has to offer.
last week (owen was up- we stayed a night or two with Will in GlasVegas) we went to an all night / most of the morning jazz bar (named the jazz bar, you’ll find it no trouble at all) one of the best jazz venues i’ve been to in my short-lived jazz career. arhip was invited on stage, we talked to the musicians, drank till 5AM it was quite an evening. today (Sunday) we went to “The Stand” which offers a free ‘who’s line is it anyway’ show for your lunchtime’s enjoyment, the food is expensive – Arhip said he expects to pay £7 for a good burger, he is obviously insane.
So, plenty to do and see – wish i could have got this room sorted way before the fringe started – that could have been fun. The ‘Tatoo’ ends tonight with a spectacular firework display, i’ll be sure to stick the photos on flickr later.
Some unfortunate news from Steve & Bill in South America; Steve had a run in with some unpleasant folks, all i’ve heard is “he was robbed”. i imagine they’re taking good care of each other despite this incident and they’re not even on the move yet – for all i know they could be in Venezuela already – picking up my Chávez t-shirts, posters and box-set of Aló Presidenté (a weekly jules holland meets newsnight meets weir’s way style programme which the president hosts). Good luck to ‘em.
this is an old post - the formatting may be jumbled
it may simply make no sense... i was young!
i believe what i said was 5 pounds (what the stand charges) for a home made gigantic burger served with fries and salad is a very good price. free comedy thrown in as well.
what prices were you expecting?
good luck tomorrow.
if the free comedy wasn’t thrown in, i would have been angered. i could make you a burger and chips for £3.
no problemo.
i’d sell it out £3.45 – £4. i’ll have to shop around this city, i don’t know what to expect yet. but we just had a right good sunday lunch-going-on-dinner for £3… for 2. i cooked it.
did you see the fireworks? festival is over hodge :(
back to the real city i guess.
