this great old school (not ‘old-school’, see here) photo this
morning. It was taken on the ‘Watersports’ trip on our way back from France,
circa 2000… and that’s me - my bronzed legs - and Mhairi. Anyway, I was
looking for my various certificates of
being
for Camp America, still can’t find my RAF Marksman - and that’s my favourite
one! Anyhoo, I’ve decided I’m off to the United States for the summer, to spend
some time being the Scout Master I always wanted to be, and to enjoy the sights
and sounds that gave us… the Joshua tree… and
stuff.Back to the moral of the story-
so I’m known as a bit of a nostalgia-fiend; I enjoy the moment, and say “woah!
this is great” when provoked by a nice piece of landscape or great company. So
this photo was a good find; that summer was Fan-tastic, it was Owen-filled, I
made good friends with Billy and resolution to become a Scout, to one day be a
camp leader - in the footsteps of our PGL mentors. I also failed completely to
pull. French or otherwise.So my Camp
America Application is in and I’m working on gathering referrals (If you want to
help out, just click me).
I’m really psyched about the idea, and if it’s as good as the folks I know tell
me - I’ll love it. Another item on the agenda today was renewing my passport…
so, I looked so young. My mullet-ed mind just couldn’t get round my poor eyes,
what happened- Ah, as the song goes “we were kids back in the year 2000″. Sure
were.Passport photos are funny things,
do you know for ¬£42 you can change your passport photo, I’m as vain as the
next, but £42! hah. So, that was 5 years ago - and today, with less hair
than I’ve worn for a good 18 months I stepped into the booth, and the machine
stole a little bit more of my soul. It’s a terrible photograph, trying to make
myself look harmless - didn’t work; I’ve pulled I kind of Middle-Eastern shadows
around the eye type of style and my ridiculous lack of mullet makes me look
like… well. So, I made a little animated gif - not because I have too much
time, I don’t - but because I find it very interesting… so, it’s 1MB - i have
no idea how to optimise animated gifs on ImageReady, but target="NewWindow">there you go. I wish this
could have been manageable.
